Pricing

Aside from the fixed rate of $30 for a Preliminary Evaluation, the cost of my service depends on quality and length of the manuscript submitted and specific editing requested. Each project receives a quoted estimate of cost to the author. If the editing effort is lighter than expected, this charge will be discounted, but the final charge for editing will never exceed the quoted estimate. 

To give potential clients a rough idea of cost, I provide the following estimates for a manuscript with 5,000 words of text (roughly 20 pages, excluding citations and reference list). 

• Light editing required (essentially proofreading without extensive errors):  $400.
• Intensive editing required (proofreading plus extensive rephrasing and reorganizing): $800.

Editing for citations and references is charged separately. Estimates are based on $0.20/citation and $1.00 per entry in a reference list.  Thus a manuscript with 200 citations to a reference list with 50 entries would cost $90.  

Turn Around Times

• Preliminary Evaluation: one working day (after receipt of manuscript and initial payment, $30).
• Full Editing: about five working days for first pass and about three working days for second pass (depending on length and quality of manuscript). 
• Expedited editing can be arranged with a surcharge of 40%.  

Payments

Payments for service should be made through the PayPal system, by responding to an electronic invoice that SES will send to you. Options include paying by PayPal, Venmo, ApplePay and credit cards. 

For large editing projects (documents exceeding 40 pages), periodic invoices and payments may be required. Details on specific cases will be negotiated.
